Introductory Courses for New Environmental Professionals

These courses, for the new environmental professional, are designed to provide an intensive introduction to environmental regulatory requirements. Participants may elect to attend the 4-day boot camp, two-day overview course, or any single course focused on media-specific issues.


Introduction to Air Quality Regulations

Emerging and evolving Title V and MACT regulations and issues will be a major focus of this course. Topics will include Title V operating permits, basic requirements of the Clean Air Act (NSR/PSD, BACT, NSPS), and EPA terminology and acronyms in air quality regulations.

Introduction to Waste Management Regulations

Environmental professionals responsible for the management of solid and hazardous wastes will learn about the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) as it applies to industrial facilities. The course covers definitions of solid and hazardous wastes, allowable ways to treat hazardous waste on-site, waste labeling and storage requirements, evaluating waste disposal facilities, and employee training.

Clean Water Act Permitting & Compliance

SPCC and Integrated Contingency Planning

This workshop presents current SPCC requirements and addresses issues such as navigable waters, reasonable expectation, loading racks, impracticability determinations, environmental equivalence, oil-filled electrical equipment, secondary containment, performance-based requirements, and industry standards for inspections and integrity testing for practical compliance. The course covers developing SPCC plans and Integrated Contingency Plans, as well as Facility Response Planning evaluations and implications.

Introduction to Environmental Recordkeeping & Reporting

This 1½ day course provides a detailed multimedia overview of environmental reporting requirements and fundamentals.
