Statistical Analysis of Environmental Data
Our Environmental Services group has an in-house team of environmental statisticians who coordinate the statistical analysis of all data examined or collected. Our team has exceptional expertise in visualizing environmental and biological datasets and applying basic univariate and multivariate analyses as well as more complex statistical approaches that account for the spatial and temporal dependencies present in most environmental datasets. This statistical expertise is critical to the effective interpretation of environmental data and ensures high statistical quality and consistency across every project that we undertake.

How We Can Help
We are committed to transparency and repeatability with all our data analyses and therefore all members of the statistics team are well-versed in statistical programming. By applying these skills in our statistical evaluations, we create a written record of all data manipulation and analyses which allows for greater efficiency when conducting similar analyses across a suite of variables or on a repeated basis. Beyond data analysis, our expertise in statistical programming has allowed us to develop automated tools to screen, manipulate, and validate datasets which increases efficiency and reduces errors and biases.
Our Services
Our statisticians have expertise in the following:
- Statistical evaluation of censored data
- Univariate and multivariate statistical analysis
- Effective development of statistically robust monitoring strategies
- Establishing and quantifying spatial and temporal trends
- Applying statistical considerations to study designs
- Power analysis
- Automated taxonomic standardization and characterization of benthic communities
- Applying the reference condition approach
