Pierre Stecko, M.Sc., EP, R.P.Bio serves as a Principal Scientist and a Managing Principal of Minnow Aquatic Environmental Services. Pierre was a founding partner of Minnow Environmental and has 23 years of environmental consulting experience. Pierre has managed more than 200 aquatic environmental assessment projects, primarily for the mining industry, and is intimately familiar with associated regulatory and technical requirements. Pierre also supports other Minnow project managers as a technical advisor and senior reviewer. His technical areas of expertise include the aquatic bioavailability and toxicology of metals, aquatic chemistry, aquatic biology, and sediment geochemistry.

Pierre has assisted clients in regulatory consulting and permitting (including with the federal Fisheries Act, the British Columbia Environmental Management Act, the Ontario Environmental Protection Act, the Yukon Environmental and Socioeconomic Assessment Act, and the Yukon Waters Act), environmental monitoring program design and implementation (including baseline studies and Environmental Effects Monitoring), aquatic environmental assessment, aquatic environmental impact assessment, metal bioavailability and toxicological evaluations, water quality objective development, adaptive management plan development, water and sediment quality evaluations, periphyton community evaluations, benthic invertebrate community evaluations, fish surveys, and fish habitat compensation programs. Pierre has extensive experience working as a technical expert within multidisciplinary teams, delivering strategic advice to clients, providing expert opinion at meetings and hearings, delivering clear and effective presentations to a variety of stakeholders (technical audiences, regulatory communities, public, First Nations), and delivering technically sound, clear, and insightful interpretive reports to clients.

Pierre holds a Bachelor of Science degree (University of British Columbia) with a focus on Aquatic Biology/Ecology and a Master of Science degree (Simon Fraser University) with a focus on Aquatic Toxicology and Geochemistry. Pierre is a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) in the province of British Columbia (as a Registered Professional Biologist [R.P.Bio.]), and a Certified Environmental Professional (EP) through ECO Canada (water quality, fisheries and wildlife). Pierre is also a certified Project Manager under the Canadian Aquatic Biomonitoring Network (CABIN) and is a member of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry.
