AWN’s full-spectrum environmental assessments and planning support enable Cherrywood’s transformation into a thriving 388-acre urban community.

Challenge

The Cherrywood Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) is one of Europe’s largest urban expansions, transforming 388 acres of former farmland and partially developed sites into a high-density, mixed-use suburban centre. Designed to accommodate over 25,000 residents with more than 8,000 new homes, Cherrywood will include a retail-focused Town Centre, six schools, three major parks, extensive leisure facilities, and cycle- and pedestrian-friendly networks. With multiple developers working concurrently, maintaining alignment with the SDZ’s masterplan, stringent environmental standards, and long-term phasing requirements presented complex challenges for planning, design, and compliance.

Solutions

AWN Consulting Ltd., a Trinity Consultants team, has delivered critical environmental support across all project phases. The team provided Environmental Impact Assessments and standalone planning applications, covering key areas including Noise, Air Quality, Climate, Human Health, Population, Resource and Waste Management, Hydrology, and Tufa Springs. AWN’s experienced environmental engineers and consultants supported developers and design teams with tailored reports, detailed design consultation, and robust compliance certification, ensuring that each project aligns with the Cherrywood Planning Scheme and the region’s evolving County Development Plan cycles.
