The Cherrywood Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) is one of Europe’s largest urban expansions, transforming 388 acres of former farmland and partially developed sites into a high-density, mixed-use suburban centre. Designed to accommodate over 25,000 residents with more than 8,000 new homes, Cherrywood will include a retail-focused Town Centre, six schools, three major parks, extensive leisure facilities, and cycle- and pedestrian-friendly networks. With multiple developers working concurrently, maintaining alignment with the SDZ’s masterplan, stringent environmental standards, and long-term phasing requirements presented complex challenges for planning, design, and compliance.
