Mercedes-Benz Stadium is a 1.8 million-square-foot retractable-roof venue in Atlanta, serving as home to the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United while hosting major events. WorkingBuildings, a Trinity Consultants team, provided commissioning services to ensure the building’s complex systems operate as intended.

Vision

The stadium was designed to set a new standard for performance, sustainability, and fan experience. Commissioning efforts focused on ensuring that all building systems function reliably under the demands of large-scale events. The facility continues to serve as a benchmark for high-performance venues.

Partnership

WorkingBuildings worked with the full project team to support system verification and integration. Coordination efforts ensured that building systems aligned with design intent and operational requirements.

Services Performed

WorkingBuildings, a Trinity Consultants team, provided commissioning services for Mercedes-Benz Stadium to verify performance and integration of complex building systems. The team conducted extensive testing and validation to ensure operational readiness, system reliability, and support for sustainability goals, including LEED Platinum certification.

Value-Add

Commissioning included oversight of more than 2,400 tests across over 1,500 pieces of equipment, verifying performance of critical systems such as the retractable roof, mechanical systems, and security infrastructure. WorkingBuildings also supported development of the Owner’s Project Requirements and verified rainwater reclamation systems, contributing to LEED v2009 Platinum certification.

This is the largest project that Coach has undertaken, and I’m glad I’ve hired the ‘A’ team to be involved in it. Being the base building acoustical consultants also helped provide coordination and streamline our design efforts to better achieve our goals.
