Trinity has been partnering with Frazier on multimedia environmental compliance reporting since 2017. Frazier is a leading producer of industrial rack systems, operating a network of 10 fabrication facilities strategically located throughout North America. The company manufactures custom and standard structural steel storage systems, from pallet rack systems to complete pick-to-belt towers, automated storage (AS) and retrieval systems (RS), and rack-supported buildings.

Trinity currently serves as Frazier’s lead technical consultant on environmental compliance reporting to federal and state regulators in five states, including Idaho, Tennessee, South Carolina, New Jersey, and New York. Reports range from hazardous waste and stormwater certifications to air emissions inventories, toxic release inventories (TRI), and air pollutants associated with metal fabrication and finishing categories, among others.

Challenge

Due to a lack of internal environmental regulatory expertise and resources, Frazier outsources its compliance reporting to Trinity. The company also relies on Trinity to prepare, submit, and update permits on an as-needed basis pursuant to expansion plans and facility updates.

The hours it would take to manage these processes and maintain vigilance over compliance matters across Frazier’s select facilities effectively divert resources from the core business. Trinity has proven to be a responsive, proactive environmental compliance partner for the company, steadily earning trust as Frazier’s go-to source for reporting and permitting throughout their evolving relationship.

Solutions

Trinity maintains an annual fixed-fee contract and compliance calendar to manage Frazier’s ongoing multimedia environmental reporting requirements. Trinity’s managing consultant serves as the single point-of-contact. In addition to conducting annual planning meetings and monthly calls, Trinity conducts site visits as needed to support Frazier’s expanding business.

Frazier calls on Trinity to support its corporate EHS director, as well as individual plant managers and supervisors, as follows:

  • Prepare and file routine environmental compliance reports (quarterly, annual, semiannual; air, stormwater, hazardous waste) for all five plants

  • Perform quarterly records review for each plant to ensure compliance with environmental permits and plans

  • Complete annual virtual environmental compliance audits for each plant, including review of permits, plans, reports, records, and virtual walkthrough

  • Provide online, annual hazardous waste refresher training for key personnel

  • Support Frazier during inspections; respond to questions and enforcement citations

  • Remain on-call for general environmental questions

In addition, Trinity performs non-routine tasks for Frazier as separate projects, including:

  • Air permit applications for facility modifications and expansions

  • Strategic planning for environmental impacts from operational changes

  • Supplemental training

Services Performed

The team developed facility-level GHG inventories, calculated emissions by source across all operations, and provided strategies for emissions reductions. They also supported stakeholder engagement and met disclosure requirements.
