Location

Ireland

The Sandyford Central development in South Dublin is a landmark residential project comprising 564 apartments across six distinct blocks. The scheme places significant emphasis on communal amenity spaces, including a reception, gym, co working areas, lounges, multifunctional rooms, a panoramic rooftop lounge, a crèche, and a café. AWN Consulting, a Trinity Consultants team, was brought in to provide acoustic support during the construction stage.

Challenge

The Sandyford Central development in South Dublin includes 564 apartments across six blocks with shared amenities such as co-working areas, a crèche, café, rooftop lounge, gym, and lounges. The project required robust acoustic controls to meet Ireland’s Part E ‘Sound’ Building Regulations while maintaining comfort in varied communal spaces—balancing privacy, functionality, and resident well-being.

Solutions

AWN, a Trinity Consultants team, developed innovative acoustic strategies by carefully selecting separating construction assemblies to minimise noise transfer between units and communal spaces. Specialist acoustic materials were specified for ceilings, walls, and floors to optimise sound absorption and control reverberation. Rigorous pre-completion acoustic testing confirmed the design’s performance and compliance with all regulatory sound insulation standards.

Services Performed

The team developed acoustic design specifications, selected construction and acoustic materials, conducted pre-completion acoustic testing, and provided regulatory compliance advisory.

Results

The successful implementation of the acoustic design has resulted in a high-quality environment throughout the Sandyford Central development, enhancing acoustic comfort and the living experience.
