Data Centers

Helping data centers meet compliance, improve sustainability, and reduce their environmental footprint

Your Partner in Carbon-Conscious Data Center Optimization

Our team supports every stage - from impact assessments to strategic planning for energy and water efficiency. We help you navigate complex regulations, elevate sustainability performance, and conduct thorough environmental assessments.

Critical Factors Addressed

  • Energy consumption
  • Carbon emissions
  • Water use
  • Ecosystem disruption
How We Help Data Center Clients
Data centers face growing regulatory pressure and sustainability expectations related to energy use, water consumption, emissions, and land use - all while maintaining 24/7 reliability. Explore our related services to see how we support data centers with permitting, compliance, and sustainable operations.

Federal and Global Drivers

Permitting and emissions limits for backup generators and other combustion sources.

Reporting of CO₂, CH₄, and other GHG emissions.

Efficiency standards for equipment and renewable energy incentives.

Management of ozone-depleting substances (ODS) and HFC substitutes.

Environmental reviews for new facilities, expansions, and federally funded projects.

Regulation of stormwater, wastewater discharges, and water withdrawals.

Hazardous and electronic waste management requirements.

Worker safety standards, including noise, vibration, and chemical handling.

Voluntary program that influences design, benchmarking, and federal procurement preferences.

DOE, EPA, and IRS programs providing tax credits, grants, and funding for efficiency and renewable integration.

Our Team's Expertise

Land use planning, CEQA/NEPA reviews, and EIAs to evaluate air, water, and ecosystem impacts.

Dispersion modeling, emissions testing, corrosion monitoring, and noise/vibration assessments with mitigation strategies.

Guidance on local, state, federal, and international requirements, including air, water, and waste programs.

Six levels of commissioning, acoustical design, and strategies to reduce energy use and integrate renewables.

Tools and IT alignment for EHS, sustainability tracking, and risk management.

Support for testing, recordkeeping, and reporting to meet federal and international standards.

SPCC plans, electronic waste recycling, hazardous waste handling, and water discharge permits.

Programs to protect wildlife, create buffer zones, and promote biodiversity around sensitive sites.

Climate risk assessments and sustainability programs to prepare for evolving reporting and operational demands.

Ambient monitoring, applied meteorology, and continuous compliance management.

Levels of Commissioning

Traditional Commissioning + Level 6 Expertise

We handle all phases of mission-critical commissioning, with an added focus on final project closeout.
Level 0
Predesign and design
Support the design process by providing input to the operational intent by reflecting on lessons learned in risk avoidance.
Level 1
Factory witness / acceptance testing
Identify for correction every defect in equipment and components before leaving the manufacturing site.
Level 2
Installation verification
Review Quality Assurance / Quality Control procedures then carefully inspect equipment and observe field installation and implementation of the QA/QC of all equipment and services.
Level 3
Start up and pre-functional testing
Confirm all L3 documentation is complete, develop pre-fuctional chechklists and compare consistency with CM and subcontractor for completeness and comprehensiveness, then witness startup / energization and L3 testing events.
Level 4
Functional performance testing
Inspect critical equipment and systems to confirm readiness by functional testing, then observe performance in all conditions.
Level 5
Integrated Systems Testing (IST)
After authoring the Methods of Procedure, observe testing and complete reliability of the integrated systems.
Level 6
Close out
Review O&M manuals for completeness and appropiateness, confirm training and associated documentation, participate in lesos learned and issue final commissioning report.
