Jocelyn Bernatchez

Jocelyn Bernatchez holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in Anthropology from Arizona State University and a B.A. in Anthropology from Dartmouth College. She has more than 20 years of experience as an archaeologist. She meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for archaeology and is a qualified Principal Investigator with the Arizona State Museum. In 2018, she joined WestLand, now Trinity Consultants, as a Principal Investigator and Project Manager. At WestLand, Dr. Bernatchez has led projects in Arizona and Utah, ranging from small cultural resources inventories to large data recovery projects. During her tenure, she has worked for clients including Resolution Copper, ASARCO, Tucson Electric Power, and the Maricopa County Department of Transportation. She now serves as Director, SW Cultural Resources, for Trinity Consultants and is based in Phoenix, AZ. Her focus is archaeology and historic preservation, with an emphasis on federal and state cultural resources compliance.

Avi Buckles

Avi Buckles brings more than 25 years of experience practicing archaeology in Arizona and New Mexico. He earned his BA in anthropology from the University of Arizona and his MA in history from Arizona State University, with a research focus on historical archaeology and Southwestern mining and ranching history. Avi has directed survey and data recovery projects for clients including Freeport-McMoRan, Resolution Copper, the Tohono O’odham Utility Authority, and the Ak-Chin Indian Community. He also developed WestLand’s Tribal Coordination Program, which employs members of seven Native American Tribes from Arizona and New Mexico.

Susan Gilbert

Susan Gilbert brings more than 30 years of experience in water supply, treatment, and distribution systems and wastewater facility planning. She earned her BS in civil and environmental engineering and her MS in civil engineering from Utah State University and later completed her MBA at Seattle University. Susan has led projects across the western United States, including the $1.0B Willamette Water Supply Program, the One Water LA 2040 Plan, and the Tucson Water Tank and Reservoir Rehabilitation Program. She is known for bringing multiple stakeholders and regulatory agencies together to move complex projects forward, and she helped develop alternative delivery legislation in two states.

Curtis Miles

Curtis Miles brings more than 10 years of experience in the mining, water, and wastewater industries. He earned his BS degree in civil engineering, with a minor in hydrology and water resources, from the University of Arizona, where he graduated magna cum laude. Curtis has served as Project Manager and Project Engineer on hydraulic system projects, including mine dewatering systems, wellfields, and distribution networks. He is also the Mining Project Lead for Trinity Consultants and has worked with major mining clients across Arizona, including Freeport-McMoRan, ASARCO, and Resolution Copper.
