Ensure Accurate and Timely TRI Reporting with Expert Compliance Support

The U.S. EPA’s Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) program requires facilities to track and report annual releases and management of toxic chemicals that may impact human health and the environment. With over 650 listed chemicals and complex reporting requirements, compliance can be challenging. We have helped thousands of facilities with TRI reporting, applying decades of experience, advanced tools, and proven methods to ensure accuracy, minimize risk, and identify opportunities for pollution prevention.

Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) Reporting FAQs

The TRI is an EPA program established under the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA). It requires facilities to report annual releases and management of certain toxic chemicals that may cause cancer, chronic health effects, or environmental harm.

Any facility with 10 or more full-time employees that manufactures, processes, or otherwise uses listed TRI chemicals above threshold levels must report annually. Reporting applies to a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, mining, electric power generation, hazardous waste treatment, publishing, and federal facilities.

Facilities must report the quantities of each covered chemical that are released to the environment, as well as those managed through recycling, energy recovery, or treatment.

TRI reports are due annually by July 1st for the previous reporting year. Reports must be submitted to both the EPA and the applicable state agency.

Trinity assists with applicability determinations, release calculations, report preparation, audits of past submissions, training, and implementation of pollution prevention strategies - helping clients reduce risk, streamline compliance, and improve environmental performance.
